Cowlitz County Awarded Emergency Food & Shelter Funding

Longview, WA. –Cowlitz County has been awarded Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP) funds from the federal government. The County will receive $58,849 to assist emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

 

United Way of Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties facilitates the funding process when the county is awarded funding, instilling their mission of improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the common good.  A local board assembled with EFSP required members will determine how the funds awarded to Cowlitz County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in Cowlitz County. 

 

Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, 2) have an accounting system, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, 5) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.  Qualifying organizations are urged to apply!

 

Public or private voluntary organizations interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact United Way of Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties immediately for an application.  The deadline to submit an application is June 9, 2016.
