Position Overview:
United Way of Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated leader to continue elevating the organization's impact within the community. The Executive Director will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives, fostering relationships, and ensuring operational and financial sustainability. This role requires integrity, creativity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Resource Development & Community Engagement
•    Lead efforts in resource development by cultivating and maintaining relationships with community organizations, businesses, and individual donors to secure funding and support for the organization
•    Conduct presentations and oversee workplace campaigns to attract new donors and volunteers.
•    Develop and implement fundraising strategies to ensure financial sustainability.

2. Community Impact & Program Oversight
•    Lead efforts to enhance the organization’s impact on local communities.
•    Collaborate with the Board and designated committees to develop and execute strategic initiatives that address community needs.
•    Oversee the management and distribution of funds to maximize community benefit.

3. Brand Stewardship & Advocacy
•    Ensure compliance with United Way Worldwide standards and policies.
•    Act as the public spokesperson alongside the Board President, managing media relations and stakeholder communications.
•    Uphold the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all activities and communications.

4. Financial & Operational Management
•    Oversee financial activities, including reviewing credit card statements, and accounts payable/receivable, and ensuring financial records are maintained accurately.
•    Work with a third-party bookkeeper to manage financial reconciliation and reporting.
•    Lead the annual audit or financial review process in collaboration with the Executive Committee.
•    Ensure all licenses, permits, insurance coverage, operational policies, and dues are up to date.
•    Serves as the principal resource to the board of directors and provides staff support for meetings and other board activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Education: A four-year degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
•    Relationship-oriented: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders to drive the mission forward. 
•    Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of audiences.
•    Strategic & Data-Driven: Demonstrated ability to use data to set goals, measure impact, and guide organizational direction.
•    Leadership Excellence: Five years of executive-level leadership, preferably nonprofit experience. Demonstrated ability to address challenges with integrity, foster a collaborative work environment, and drive measurable results.

Organizational Structure:
United Way of Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties operates with a small, dedicated team of two staff members, including the Executive Director. A volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of 12-15 individuals from diverse backgrounds, provides governance and strategic direction. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board and is responsible for executing the organization's vision and goals.

Compensation and Benefits:
•    The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 per year
•    United Way of Cowlitz & Wahkiakum Counties will contribute 5% of the Executive Director’s monthly gross earnings to an IRA
